The Event
We recently had the pleasure of catering for a lovely couple, Ellie and Matt, as they celebrated their wedding at their home. The day was set in a large, beautiful marquee in their garden, with the ceremony taking place on the front lawn. It began as an intimate gathering of 50 close family and friends, before expanding into a lively evening reception for 130 guests.
Our team arrived early to set up a full working kitchen inside the marquee’s catering tent. Everything had to be brought in — from ovens and tables to utensils and prep equipment — and it took careful planning to get everything in place. With a team of 13 of our staff on site, we were ready to deliver the highest standard of food and service throughout the day.
From arrival drinks to a tea and coffee bar, and later a full bar serving a couple of crowd-pleasing cocktails, we kept guests refreshed right through to the end of the night. A fantastic seven-piece band played into the evening, keeping the dance floor full and the atmosphere buzzing. It was a wonderful day to be part of, and an honor to help make Ellie and Matt’s celebration run smoothly from start to finish.
The Food
For the ceremony, we treated the 50 guests to a simple yet elegant afternoon tea. Delicate smoked salmon blinis, an assortment of finger sandwiches, and plenty of homemade cakes were laid out for everyone to enjoy while soaking up the beautiful garden setting.
Once all the guests had arrived for the reception, we moved on to a three-course plated dinner for 130 people. Starters included either a classic prawn cocktail with crisp lettuce and peashoots or a fresh pea and mint salad topped with Pecorino shavings. For the main course, guests chose between a spinach and feta roulade with a cream and tarragon sauce, or a vegetable and feta pithivier with roasted red pepper sauce — both served with buttered tomatoes, a medley of seasonal vegetables, and roasted vine tomatoes. Dessert was a trio of sweet treats: berry pavlova, baked vanilla cheesecake, and a triple chocolate torte, each served with cream, fresh raspberries, and a mini shortbread heart.
As the evening celebrations continued, we kept energy levels high by circulating bacon and sausage baps, perfect for the hungry dancers who kept the party going into the night.
After the celebrations, we were touched to receive such a kind review from Matt on Google:
“What a find Rachel and her team were. Food – outstanding. Service – outstanding. Communication – outstanding. Everything we asked for was catered for with no bother, even for the fussiest guests. Lastly, going above and beyond – we ran out of drink, no bother, it was sorted without us even knowing. They deserve 6 stars!”
Feedback like this means the world to us. We always aim to deliver food, service, and attention to detail that make each event truly special, so hearing that we helped make Ellie and Matt’s wedding day run seamlessly is the best reward we could ask for.
