The Event
This event was a Bat Mitzvah celebration, a special Jewish coming-of-age ceremony that marks a young girl’s transition into religious adulthood at the age of 12. Bat Mitzvahs are joyful occasions that bring family and friends together to celebrate tradition and community. We have proudly provided catering for many events within the Jewish community and have a strong understanding of cultural preferences and religious considerations. While we do not offer full kosher catering, we specialise in Kiddush-style menus, focusing on appropriate and well-loved selections such as fish dishes, dairy items, salads, breads, and sweet treats. This knowledge allows us to recommend menu options that are respectful, suitable, and enjoyable for this type of celebration.
The Food
For the food, the family chose a cold fork buffet featuring a wide variety of fresh salads, including a zesty orzo salad that proved very popular with guests. The spread also included plenty of bagels served with smoked salmon, a classic choice for Kiddush-style celebrations. Dessert was served as individual puddings, with a selection of custard and fresh fruit tarts, rich chocolate torte, and refreshing lemon tarts. The client also asked if we could help source a gluten-free challah, the traditional Jewish braided bread often enjoyed on special occasions. While this was not something we had made before, we were more than happy to help and baked two gluten-free challahs, which turned out beautifully and were very well received.
